Raining Up Máiréad Nesbitt (pronounced "mah-raid") (born in Loughmore, County Tipperary, Ireland) is a Classical and Celtic music performer, most notably as a fiddler and violinist. She is currently the fiddler for the group Celtic Woman. She was born to John and Kathleen Nesbitt, both well-known music teachers. She has a sister, Frances, and four brothers, Seán, Michael, Noel and Karl, all of whom are musicians. She has been a piano player since the age of four, and began playing the violin at age six. A reknowned fiddler, Mairead Nesbitt mesmerizes the audience with her beautiful music and her energetic performance. She played on the original Riverdance soundtrack and was lead fiddle player on Lord of the Dance Raining Up is Máiréad Nesbitt's solo musical album, which was recorded and published in 2001 by Vertical Records, UK. It was also released in North America 2006. The musical CD contains a combination of traditional Irish, Scottish and newly composed Irish and contemporary tunes. The tracks were written by Máiréad and her brother Karl.
